How the Mighty Have Fallen
I'm watching the New England Patriots on NBC on Sunday Night Football against the San Diego Chargers and I am amazed with how poor they look. Matt Cassell does not look like an NFL quarterback, and the defense has looked extremely vulnerable thus far. Cassell has shown an inability to complete passes consistently that travel more than 6 or 6 yards, the defense has been carved up by both the run and the pass, and the special teams has been tormented by Darren Sproles to this point in the evening. Did Tom Brady really mean this much to this team? I have believed that Brady has been this team's most important player for years, and there is no question what he has meant to the outcome of the offense, but the defense's lack of solid play has surprised me the most.
