Mr. Crabtree

Michael Crabtree is taking a calculated risk by continuing his current holdout with the San Francisco 49 ers .  First of all, Crabtree is looking to be paid more like a man that was drafted between picks five and seven rather than the number ten pick that he was.  I happen to agree with Michael with the thought that is he more talented than the number ten slot that he fell to, but the fact of the matter is that he did drop during the draft in April and now he must pay for that.   If he wants to play for a season or two and prove his worth before holding out, than he has me in his corner.  As for right now, although I do feel that is an extreme talent at the position of wide receiver, he hasn't shown that he can be a franchise player at the pro level yet and so I cannot blame the 49 ers for not paying him as such.   Go out and show the skills and on the field intelligence that you showed at Texas Tech and then try to come back to the bargaining table.   All that is being done now

Jay Cutler

On Thursday April 2 nd , the Denver Broncos traded Jay Cutler and a 2009 5 th round pick to the Chicago Bears for a pair of first round draft picks (2009 and 2010), a third round pick (2009), and incumbent quarterback Kyle Orton. This trade ends the Jay Cutler saga which began back when word leaked that the Broncos had discussed a possible scenario in which they would trade Cutler to another team (possibly the Tampa Bay Buccaneers) and acquire Matt Cassell from the New England Patriots. That trade never materialized as the Patriots ended up trading Cassell (who worked with new Broncos coach Josh McDaniels in New England) to the Kansas City Chiefs for a second round pick. Now that the drama in Denver is over for now (Cutler and the Bears make a visit during the 3rd week of the preseason) it seems like a solid idea to take a look at this situation. First of all, after the trade was announced, Cutler released a statement (I will paraphrase) that he was surprised that the Bronco

WBC

The World Baseball Classic is has already embarked on it's second effort to capture the attention of all and is about to kick into it the second round of the elimination tournament. The was much fanfare for the first go around of the WBC, but there seems to be less this time around. The players seem to be enjoying the experience as they would normally be sitting through meaningless spring training games right now anyways. At least now they are on a bit of a more competitive stage, and they aren't going from city to city in either Arizona or Florida on buses. On the other hand, many major league baseball organizations are holding their collective breath right now as they hope, wish and pray that these players that they have to pay millions of dollars to do not get hurt while representing their country in this tournament. The idea of the classic is a novel one as the hope is that one day it can reach at least close to the level of popularity worldwide that the World Cup h
